Would i need to take classes at a community college before becoming an apprentice for HVAC?

fader asked:

I don’t know if need to take classes at a junior college or tech school first before being able to be able to be an apprentice for getting into the HVAC trade. Does anyone know?
The closest communitity college that has HVAC courses is 30 miles away. I live near one in my city (Modesto CA.) but they dont have HVAC classes.

It all depends on what community college you’re attending. Some are big enough to have their own workforce center where people would take their HVAC classes. Some colleges have it were you can earn a certificate in a certain profession.

I would call around if you have a couple of community colleges around you.

DO NOT go to a for-profit “technical school”, such Everest Institute, DeVry, (just look up “for profit colleges” on wikipedia for the list) etc. These schools overcharge and they are ripoffs.
